Video types

As a partner of Demo_Day, you need to deliver a minimum of two and a maximum of four videos:

  • Demo talk (<12 minutes)
Video of up to 12 minutes in which you give a demo of your solution. This may be 1 solution or a maximum of 3. This demo talk will be played semi-live at a specific time on June 11th. Participants expect a demo presentation, dsu make sure at least 50% of your solution(s) actually consists of screen captures. Furthermore, you can think of introducing your organization and show who is using your tooling or even add testimonials from users.
  • Demo on demo spot (<5 minutes)
Video of up to 5 minutes in which you give a demo of your solution. This may be 1 solution or a maximum of 3. This demo talk can be played on demand on the demo spot (stand) by a visitor. It’s a short version of the extended demo, so make sure you have a good call to action at the end to encourage visitors to contact you for an extended one-on-one demo.
  • Welcoming or corporate video (<2 minutes) – OPTIONAL
Optional video played on the big screen on the demo spot of up to 2 minutes in which you introduce your crew, invite visitors to get in touch with them and/or introduce the organization.
  • Pitch (<1 minute) – OPTIONAL
Short pitch in which you tell visitors of Demo_Day why they should watch your demo talk and/or visit your demo spot on June 11th. These pitches will be published on the site in the week prior to the event and used on the day itself around tech talks by experts.

Tools for screen captures

Below you will find various tools you can use to record videos.

  • Camtasia Studio – (€199 once)
Camtasia makes video editing amazingly simple. With a drag-and-drop editor you can quickly create beautiful videos. In addition, you can simultaneously record different screens, cameras, webcams and for example your iPhone. So you can also choose to show yourself in between or show a preview on another screen. A handy feature of Camtasia is that you can automatically show an extra visual effect as soon as you click your mouse. If, for example, you are explaining a certain software program, you can easily clarify what you clicked on. You can try a free 30 day trial to see if the software suits your needs. Camtasia is available for both Mac and Windows computers.
  • Screenflow – (€99 once), MAC only
Screenflow is screen capture software similar to Camtasia. One drawback, however, is that it is only available for Mac. With screenflow you can also capture several screens simultaneously. For example, you can record an external camera, your computer screen and your iPad screen. So you can create a beautiful video from different sources. You can also easily add effects and filters to your videos. With Screenflow you can add professional animations and moving images in different ways. You can also, for example, when explaining software show which key combination you pressed.
  • Movavi – (€49.95 once)
Movavi a name we hear more often lately. This is not without reason, because this program makes it possible to easily record your screen. Think of apps, webinars and live-streams. Movavi comes along well when it comes to innovation. Not only can you capture your screen with it, but also your webcam and it has the possibility to take screenshots in between.
  • Diverse Chrome extensions – basic versions usually free of charge
There are many ‘free’ Chrome extensions available that allow you to record from your screen. Often you can’t do everything and the resolution isn’t HD or you can’t download the videos as mp4.
